“No More Volunteers” - - Rev. Mereschuk - - June 25, 2017

How many volunteers do we need for our church to function? None! But why? The author of the Letter to Ephesians reminds us of the diverse gifts shared by each member of the community - - each one of us a vital "ligament" that makes the Body of Christ function (Ephesians 4:11-16). But the Body of Christ does not require volunteers.

“The Reason Why We Sing” - - Rev. Mereschuk - - June 18, 2017

Music spans cultures, history, geography, and faiths as a means to express joy, sorrow, longing, praise, and protest. The Psalms give us 150 examples of prayer-songs calling out to God with a wide range of emotions. The rich and complex history of African American Spirituals has been the soundtrack for liberation. What music sings for us in our time? (Psalm 100 and Psalm 150).

The Good Samaritan - - Children’s Sunday - - June 11, 2017

On Sunday, June 11th, the youngest members of our Beloved Community led us in a spirited worship service centered around the story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). One of the young people delivered a personal and powerful sermon about this parable, challenging us to examine how we have been the priest, Levite, Samaritan, and injured person throughout our lives. This worship service was crafted by the Children's Church kids and teachers, led by our Transitional Director of Children's Church, Rev. Lindsey Peterson.
